Page Title How to Get Involved with ACT
in Your Community

The ACT program is designed to increase awareness and educate communities and adults about their role in promoting violence prevention in the lives of children.

There are many ways to bring ACT to your community—whether as an individual, a member of an organization, or a professional working in a social services agency, health, or mental health organization. Here are some ideas about bringing ACT to your community:

1. Learn early violence prevention concepts and skills to apply to your daily life by reading current ACT publications, which are available for download or purchase http://forms.apa.org/act/order/:

2. Promote early violence prevention and the ACT program in your workplace through meetings and presentations. Use the flyer available here.

3. Promote the ACT program to community groups and coalitions through meetings, presentations, and participation in community events. Use the flyer available here.

4. Encourage the local chapter of your professional association to get involved with ACT. Use the flyer available here.

5. Contact and encourage the local media to promote early violence prevention through articles and interviews with experts

6.Be trained as a Certified ACT Community Coordinator or Facilitator.
